What Do I Know? I'm Just Running For Office
"I haven't had a chance to develop any issues yet." Ward 4 Alderman and official candidate for Rep. Raymond Poe's 99th house seat got off to a pretty squishy start Tuesday. Redpath expressed the need for the state to pay off its bills, but then quickly back-tracked when a reporter said prison workers felt they were in danger because of increasing populations and inadequate funding. I won't go so far as to say that Redpath is unqualified for the position, in fact, he could be a great state rep, but sticking to issues and not getting distracted is very important to a campaign.
This isn't the first time the local democrat party has floated a candidate that didn't have a platform. Springfield Mayor Tim Davlin ( who I think has done a pretty good job since elected) had no platform during the first two weeks of the race. I was told by a ranking member of the party to not ask too many detailed questions of the mayoral candidate because, "we still haven't developed his campaign."
This is unacceptable, and I find myself put off by the local party from time to time...this is one of those times. Let's get serious.

You must really appreciate it when party leaders go out of their way to help you do your job better by giving advice on what types of questions you should ask.
He has to have time to consult with Timoney, Earl, Bunch Renfro and the rest of the sang county dem party on what to say and how to answer questions. Oh and lets ask Redpath how many relatives will end up with better jobs if he gets elected. Of course he will not answer that until after he is elected and he will say they were well experienced and quality workers.....campaign workers that is!!!!!
Redpath doesn't seem to have much of a clue when I watch the City Council meetings. However, if he takes some lessons from the Dems currently running the state and the hiring practices at CMS, he should have no problems getting as many "highly qualified" workers good state jobs. Rumor has it that a person doesn't even have to be qualified anymore.
7:53, you're a stroke. "People don't have to be qualified anymore." It's obvious that you don't know anything about the state hiring practices, current or past.
People like you can keep posting crap on Miller's blog, Jim's blog, and this blog. It's not going to do you any good. Twelve months form now you'll still be in second place.
Accept it.
Mike when are you going to come over to the Republican Party. The Democratic Party has given a whole new meaning to the phrase "A Brain Is A Terrible Thing To Waste".
I'll be a Republican when I have enough money to benefit from GOP idiologies. Honestly, the few things I firmly believe in (Labor, education funding reform) aren't being taken seriously by either party, so I'm a bit put out.
I have no doubt that Redpath will put his relatives on the payroll. Look at how he finagled a PCCC board seat for his daughter. And I can speak from experience in dealig with her when she was a teenager - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree - Duh-h-h-h!
Let's be careful with people's families...Chuck's daughter is a public figure, but let us keep that in mind.
If he get's elected he will really be able to keep his pedophile brother out of the clink. It's amazing that no mainstream media has ran with the Il. Times story. Just go to show you what the Redpath name means in the town.
